Clark T. Stirling

Background

Clark T. Stirling graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1979 and received his J.D. degree from George Washington Law School in 1983. He is currently licensed to practice law in California, Alaska and Washington D.C. He began his professional career as a clerk for the Superior Court in Alaska, after which he became a Deputy District Attorney in the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office. Three years and some 35 trials later, he moved to Santa Barbara and joined the firm of Archbald & Spray as a trial attorney.

In 1993, he opened his own law office and remained Of Counsel with the Law Office of Kristofer Kallman until forming this partnership with David Nye and Karen Peabody. He has extensive civil trial experience, and has been lead counsel in more than 50 jury trials. His most recent jury verdict was a $690,000 award in 2009 for a client who suffered serious injuries when a defective chair broke at her place of employment. He served two terms as the Chair of the Litigation Section of the Santa Barbara Bar Association, and has been a member of the Inns of Court and the Conference of Delegates, and is a past recipient of the Frank A, Crandall Pro Bono Award. He is active in community affairs, and has sat on the Board of Transition House, the Board of the Wilderness Youth Project, the Board of the Children’s Creative Project, and the Board of the Santa Barbara High School MAD Academy. After a long and prestigious career, Clark retired from the firm in 2023.
